1 ingredient crucial for aging skin

The lovely Amanda from The Green Beauty Collective has something to say about aging skin! So here she is discussing about anti-aging:

So what is "anti-aging"? Is an anti-aging product really going to stop time and take us all back to Woodstock, flared pants and perfectly young, plump skin? You know, the good old days!

Well, yes and no. Unfortunately we can't turn back time, but we can surge our skin with moisture - and that folks is our definition of "anti-aging". So what is this mystery ingredients that is crucial for aging skin? its Hyaluronic Acid.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

In short terms: Hyaluronic Acid is in our skin, we are born with it. It the cushion you feel when you press on a baby cheek (maybe not so much cushion for you anymore). Hyaluronic Acid helps us lock in moisture in our skin.

In longer terms: Watch this video.

Can I find it in skin care products?

Yes! Our local skin care line Viva Skin Care makes a full range of natural skin care products targeted for aging skin. The product range is gentle,  hydrating and extremely effective. Here are 2 of our suggestions for a dose of Hyaluronic Acid:

1) Pure Hyaluronic Acid SerumThis serum is a customer favourite. A simple, soft and hydrating serum that contains hyaluronic acid (sourced from a vegetable similar to a wild yam) This key ingredient acts like a sponge, drawing moisture in, resulting in glowing, plump, hydrated skin.

Tips: Use 1 single drop of serum on damp skin. This will make for the ideal application surface and pull more moisture into the skin.

2) Amaze Cream: This gorgeously scented, satin textured moisturizing cream is great for all skin types. Ultra hydrating and packed with vitamins and antioxidants. The amaze cream creates a semi-matte finish on the skin, perfect for makeup application.

Tips: Pat and press this moisturizer into the skin rather than over massaging to avoid pulling the skin (resulting in sagging skin)

Can I find it in foods?

Fermented foods such as fresh miso, tempeh, kimchi help with hyaluronic acid production in the entire body.

Leafy greens and root veggies contain hyaluronic acid

Animal sources such as bone broth and chicken with the skin on

Foods rich in Vitamin C such as broccoli, berries and red peppers are beneficial for Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid production

So is this ingredients really crucial for aging skin?

What's crucial for aging skin is hydration. By using an ingredient like hyaluronic acid, you are increasing the amount of moisture that is actually holding inside your skin. Ever put on a moisturizer and an hour later your skin feel sucked dry? Well, your moisturizer is not doing its job. Skin care products that contain hyaluronic acid are going to increase moisture, hold moisture in the skin and plump and firm the skin (as a result of the "sponge action")

Thank you Amanda for highlighting such a phenomenal ingredient!
